Qualifying Conditions for a Medical Marijuana Card in Florida
To receive a medical marijuana card in Florida, patients must be diagnosed with a qualifying medical condition recognized under Florida law. A certified physician must confirm that your condition meets the requirements and enter your recommendation into the state’s Medical Marijuana Use Registry.
Official Qualifying Conditions in Florida
The Florida Department of Health recognizes the following conditions as eligible:

Glaucoma

HIV/AIDS

Crohn’s Disease

Parkinson’s Disease
-
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Chronic nonmalignant pain (pain caused by or originating from a qualifying condition and persisting beyond its usual course)

Terminal illnesses diagnosed by a physician other than your certifying doctor

Additional Conditions That May Qualify
Florida law allows physicians to use discretion for conditions that are similar in severity to the official list. Patients may qualify if they suffer from:

Insomnia or other serious sleep disorders

Migraines or debilitating headaches

Arthritis and joint pain

Severe nausea or lack of appetite

Muscle spasms or spasticity from neurological conditions
Your physician will review your medical records and symptoms to decide whether your condition qualifies under the “same kind or class” provision.
The Qualification Process

Schedule a consultation with a Florida-certified medical marijuana doctor.

Provide medical records or symptom history. If you don’t have your records handy, don’t worry—our in-house pain specialist can work with you to produce the necessary medical documentation so you can still move forward.

Doctor evaluation. If approved, your physician will submit your recommendation to the Florida Medical Marijuana Use Registry.

State approval. The Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) reviews your application.

Receive your card. Once approved, you can legally purchase medical cannabis from licensed dispensaries throughout Florida.
